The Revd Andrew McCroskery appointed vicar of St Bartholomew's
It was announced today that the Revd Andrew McCroskery has been appointed the new Vicar of St Bartholomew’s Church, Clyde Road, Dublin.
The Revd Andrew McCroskery, who is single, was born in 1974 in Northern Ireland and educated in Glasgow University where he graduated with a Bachelor in Divinity in 1996 and Trinity College Dublin where he graduated with an MPhil in 1999. He was ordained a Deacon in 1999 and a Priest the following year. He served as Curate in the parish of St Mark’s, Newtownards in the Diocese of Down and Dromore from 1999 to 2002 and as Dean’s Vicar in St Finbarr’s Cathedral in Cork from 2002 to 2004. Since 2004 he has served as Rector of Youghal, Co Cork in the Diocese of Cloyne. He has been a Minor Canon of St Fin Barre’s Cathedral and Domestic Chaplain to the Bishop of Cork since 2003 and the Cork, Cloyne and Ross Diocesan Liturgical Officer from 2006.
Speaking on his appointment to St Bartholomew’s in Dublin, he said, “I am looking forward to moving to St. Bartholomew's and working within a fine tradition both liturgically and musically. It is always both a privilege and a pleasure to be able to journey with people in their faith, and I look forward to getting to know the people and the parish. It is also with sadness that I leave Youghal Union. I have greatly enjoyed my time with the people of Youghal Union in County Cork and the privilege of journeying alongside them in their Christian pilgrimage.”
St Bartholomew’s Church, Clyde Road was consecrated in 1867 and is well known for its fine music and its high church Anglican liturgical tradition. His institution will take place on 19 May 2008.
