RSCM Ireland to Honour Award Winners
Dublin’s historic Christ Church Cathedral will be filled with the sound of young voices on 27 September as RSCM Voice for Life award winners are presented with their certificates.
Twenty–five young people have achieved success in their Bronze, Silver or Gold Voice for Life awards examinations during the past academic year and RSCM Ireland, in association with Christ Church Cathedral is marking the success of these young people by inviting them to sing alongside the altos, tenors and basses of Christ Church Cathedral choir.
“These are ordinary children who have, through their dedication and hard work, developed the skills needed to accomplish extraordinary things” says Peter Parshall, Co–ordinator of RSCM Ireland. “Their commitment as members of a choir both enables and enhances worship in their churches week by week and we celebrate their ministry as choristers”.
Presenting the certificates will be the Dean of Christ Church, the Very Revd Dermot Dunne together with the Administrator of St Mary’s Pro–Cathedral, Canon John Flaherty.
All are welcome at the service of Evensong which begins at 5.00pm.
The RSCM’s Voice for Life training scheme provides a framework for choral singers to develop their vocal skills, their musical and liturgical understanding and their knowledge of repertoire. The scheme comes with a range of teaching material and supporting resources and gives plenty of advice on the practicalities of running a choir. It is intended to enable choir trainers and teachers to train their choir or group more effectively, and to help singers grow as people as well as musicians.
