Church of Ireland 2009 Communications Competition Now Open: Calls for Entries
Magazine, Website and New Technologies Competition
The Central Communications Board today launches the Magazine, Website and New Technologies Competition and invites entries within each category. Quality of design and layout, strength of editorial content and outreach potential are once again to be the standards of excellence against which entries will be judged. The closing date is Friday 20 March 2009. Winners will be announced at the General Synod in Armagh, 8-10 May 2009.
In the Magazine section entries are invited in three print media categories:
Diocesan Magazines
Parish Magazine/Newsletter
Church of Ireland affiliated organisation Magazine/Newsletter
In the Website section entries are invited in three categories:
Diocesan Website
Parish Website
Church of Ireland affiliated organisation Website
In the New Technologies section:
Most innovative use of New Technologies: to include Interactive Communication Technologies (ICT) or ‘social media’ over and beyond standard websites, eg: blogs, podcasts or social networking or content-sharing websites
Entries are welcome from any committee or group associated with the Church of Ireland.
Central Communications Board Chairman, the Rt Revd Trevor Williams, Bishop of Limerick, says:
‘We are a community with a message. Communication is central to our life as a Church. Good communication not only provides information, but builds a sense of belonging and encourages involvement.
We have a message to share with others and the quality of our communication will affect the clarity of that message. Communication is also a skill, and we can all improve. So, join in this competition. It’s a chance to learn from others and commend those who are doing a good job.’
