Inaugural Eco–Congregation Conference Announced
Eco–Congregation Ireland has announced details of its inaugural conference which takes place in Dromantine Retreat and Conference Centre, near Newry, County Down, on September 14 and 15.
The speakers will be
Professor David Horrell of Exeter
University; Dr Alastair McIntosh,
Professor of Human Ecology a the University of Strathclyde and Fellow of the
Centre for Human Ecology; Revd Peter
Owen–Jones, author and TV pesenter; Dr Anne Primavesi, Fellow of the Centre for
Interdisciplinary Study of Religion, Birkbeck College, University of
London; and Professor Stephen Williams of
Union Theological College, Belfast.
Workshop
topics will include God’s creation and poetry, sustainable
living and spirituality, Celtic spirituality, Ecology and the Eucharist, climate
change, ethical investments, ecology and the economy, and helping children and
young people nurture respect for the earth.
Workshop
facilitators will include Dr Una Agnew SSL, Rev Grace Clunie,
Robert Cochran, Mary Kate Hagan RSM, Alex Hill, Dr Alastair McIntosh, Hugh
O’Donnell SDB, Rev Peter Owen–Jones and Tony Weekes. Members of Fitzroy Caring
for Creation group will also lead a session on ‘how to become an
eco–congregation’.
