Second Rubicon Conference to Explore Christian Faith in Ireland of Today
The place of the Church and Christianity in contemporary Irish society will be the focus of the second Rubicon conference which takes place in Rathmines on Saturday October 20. The conference’s speakers will include David McWilliams and Os Guinness (the great great great grandson of Arthur Guinness) among others. The event takes place in Rathmines Town Hall on Saturday October 20 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Up to 100 people will have the opportunity to be part of the conversation which aims to explore the interplay between culture and the Gospel. Hosted by the Revd Rob Jones and Greg Fromholz of Holy Trinity Church in Rathmines, the main aim of Rubicon is to try to create a conversation around the areas of, economics, faith, entrepreneurship and community building in the context of today’s broken Ireland.
Revd Rob Jones, explains that the conference is aimed at a wide range of people. “We’re trying to get people who are passionate about where we are going in the Church. We would like church leaders, clergy and young leaders, as well as those with an interest in business and economics, to come to create a conversation and interact with each other,” he says.
“Rubicon is a place for discussing and debating the interplay with culture and the Gospel. We want to create a place where the big questions can be debated and talked about,” adds Greg Fromholz.
The conference will feature speakers from a wide range of diverse backgrounds who will bring their experience to the debate surrounding what Christian faith looks like in the Ireland of today and its position in a society which is undergoing great transition.
Speakers include Os Guinness, philosopher, author and social scientist; David McWilliams, economist and author, Marcus Mylechreest of the Salvation Army; Revd Dr William Olhausen, Rector of Killiney; Graham Jones of the Solas Project, Dr Niamh Allen; and Sam Moore, Innovista.
