Get Training for Diocesan Inter–Parish Hockey Tournament
It is time to dust off your hockey stick, oil your limbs(!) and get in training(!!) for this year’s Dublin and Glendalough Inter–Parish Hockey Tournament.
The tournament will take place in St Andrew’s College, Booterstown Avenue, Booterstown, Blackrock, County Dublin, on Sunday June 9 commencing at 2.00pm, or as soon as you can make it – the organisers do not want to upset any clergy by people telling them that they cannot attend church because they are playing in the Diocesan Inter–Parish Hockey Tournament.
The fee for playing in the tournament (to cover costs) is €40 per team, which must be submitted with the form on or before Friday May 31.
The organisers look forward to seeing you and your team of fit and able–bodied men and women but point out that fitness and ability are not requirements for this tournament, just a sense of humour and courage.
This is very much a FUN tournament. Hence, there have to be some rules and regulations, which will be enforced, in order to keep the FUN aspect of the tournament as the focus. Parishes are asked to ensure that teams consist of ‘legal’ players and that they play in a friendly and sporting manner.
It is an 11–a–side, and at any time on the pitch, each team must consist of either five men and six ladies or six men and five ladies. Each team is also asked to ensure that members all wear the one colour shirt to assist the umpires.
Only three members of each team may be under 18 years of age and may not be of interprovincial standard or higher.
Each team must have a goalkeeper – someone who is wearing a helmet, a chestpad and other goalkeeping protection.
A copy of all the rules and an application form are available from either:
