St Bartholomew’s Choir Launches New CD

St Bartholomew’s Choir has launched its latest recording of the Boys and Men. The new CD, Blessed be the God and Father, was launched following the church’s very well attended summer concert on Sunday June 9.

The new CD contains an assortment of well–known anthems and Mass settings, including Haydn’s Little Organ Mass, Benjamin Britten’s Cantata Rejoice in the Lamb and the title track, SS Wesley’s Easter anthem Blessed be the God and Father.

This CD is the fourth to feature the Boys and Men. Its recording was directed by St Bartholomew’s director of music, Tristan Russcher. The organ was played by assistant director of music, David Grealy. The CD was produced by Judy Martin and the engineer was Brian McIvor. The project manager was Richard Bannister.

The choir put on an excellent performance to a full house in the Clyde Road church. Following the concert Tristan Russcher thanked everyone involved in the recording of the CD. He also thanked the rector, Fr Andrew McCroskery and the vestry for allowing them to record in the church, which he said not only looked beautiful but had fantastic acoustics.

Officially launching the CD, Tim Thurston from Lyric FM’s Gloria said that Blessed be the God and Father provided an excellent snapshot of the choir as it is today. “As you know there is no such thing as a free launch – so please do buy plenty of copies,” he said concluding by thanking the singers for their wonderful performance. “You don’t get applause every Sunday but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate the music. But tonight we do applaud you. Thank you so much.”

Blessed be the God and Father is available to buy now at €15. It can be purchased from St Bartholomew’s Church on Clyde Road or it can be bought online from the parish website www.stbartholomew’s.ie and it will soon be available to download on iTunes.

Anyone with a son or daughter interested in joining the choir should contact the director of music at music@stbartholomews.ie. Entry to the choir is determined by audition and is open to all denominations.
