International Liturgical Consultation in Dublin This Week
The International Anglican Liturgical Consultation is holding its meeting in Dublin this week. The ‘Dublin Gathering’, which has been organised by the Revd Alan Rufli, Rector of Clondalkin, is taking place in the King’s Hospital School, Palmerstown, starting today (Monday) and continuing until Saturday.
The theme of this consultation is ‘Rites relating to Healing and Reconciliation’. During their visit to Dublin the delegates will have the opportunity to visit and worship in both Christ Church Cathedral and St Patrick’s Cathedral. The consultation was last held in Dublin in 1995.
The International Anglican Liturgical Consultations (IALCs) gather liturgists and liturgical theologians from the Provinces of the Communion for focussed study of particular liturgical issues and for the building up of Communion life through the sharing of resources and insights across the Provinces.
The consultations are the official network for liturgy of the Anglican Communion, recognised by the ACC and the Primates’ Meeting, and holding first responsibility in the Communion to resource and communicate about liturgy on a communion–wide basis. Historically, the consultations developed as Anglicans met alongside the congress of the international and ecumenical society Societas Liturgica.
