Vacancy in the Athy Union of Parishes
Diocese of Glendalough – Athy Union of Parishes – Incumbency
This union of parishes of approximately 612 souls, is centred on Athy, a busy market town at the meeting of the River Barrow and the Grand Canal in south–west County Kildare, 72 kilometers southwest of Dublin.
There are four churches, well maintained and with the assistance of a lay reader and a parish reader. This is a vibrant parish with a new parish centre and with active links to the wider community.
There is a four teacher Model School in Athy as well as an interdenominational Gael Scoil.
There is also a VEC Secondary School in Athy and Kilkenny College is within easy reach.
The rectory is a fine period building built in 1861 and modernized in 2002 and in good repair.
