Rubicon 2014 to Focus on Justice
Rubicon is gearing up for its third year and its huge popularity means that it is already sold out. The yearly gathering takes place on Saturday February 1 in Rathmines Town Hall and continues on Sunday morning in Holy Trinity, Rathmines. This year participants will focus on the theme of justice.
Created by Greg Fromholz and the Revd Rob Jones of Holy Trinity, Rathmines, Rubicon draws together people to collaborate intentionally and explore ideas about how people of faith can continue to engage in all their spheres of influence.
The contributors are numerous and varied and come from the areas of media, arts, sports, politics, entrepreneurism and philosophy. They will gather with 110 new influencers to chat in a ‘TED–esque’ format with interaction, table discussion and tea.
This year Shane Claiborne (pictured), activist, author and founder of the Simple Way Community in Philadelphia, is the keynote speaker. Shane will be joined by Archbishop Michael Jackson who will speak at the opening of the conversation about justice.
Other contributors who will be involved this year include John Foong, Head of Mid–market Sales and Demand Management, Google Enterprise: Europe, Middle East and Africa; Gavin Jennings, presenter of Morning Ireland; Daniel Ramamoorthy, entrepreneur, business consultant, startup and government advisor to Minister Alan Shatter, Lauren Shaw, Rhuma Ireland; Elaine Moore, Women’s Shelter, Rathmines; Thywill Bankole, Chair of Fingal Ethnic Network; Graham Jones, CEO of Solas and Social Entrepreneur award winner; Cameron Stewart, brand consultant/former Ark Clothing. There will be a live video feed from Rothar Africa cyclists who are traveling from Cairo to Capetown for charity. Alice Leahy, director of TRUST is to be confirmed and there will be many more.
Although, Rubicon 2014 is fully booked out, there is still space to hear Shane speak at Holy Trinity, Rathmines, at 11.45 am on Sunday February 2.
