Huge Demand Sees Venue Change for ‘Building a Discipling Culture’ Seminar
Due to an excellent level of demand the venue for the ‘Building a Discipling Culture’ seminar, which takes place next Wednesday, June 4, has been changed. The seminar will now take place in the Church of Ireland College of Education in Rathmines. It was to take place in the Music Room of Christ Church Cathedral but demand for places has exceeded the capacity of that venue.
Participants in the day long seminar, which is being organised by the Archbishop of Dublin, the Dublin and Glendalough Diocesan Team and the Church Planting Network Group, will hear from church leaders from Sheffield Network Church. This event follows on from the Missional Discipleship Day held in the cathedral in January. It is aimed at everyone, including clergy and members of the laity who are leading or facilitating ministry and mission in the parish. Topics to be addressed will include creating a culture of discipleship, discipleship that leads to mission, contextualising to a local setting and practical approaches.
The speakers on the day will include Canon Paul Maconochie, leader of Network Church Sheffield and its European Network; Rich Robinson, director of 3dm UK; and Nick and Marjorie Allan, leaders of St Thomas Church, Philadelphia in Sheffield. Archbishop Jackson will open the event.
The seminar gets underway at 9.30 am with worship and a devotional session. This will be followed by an introductory session. Following a coffee break the group will divide with those attending for the first time looking at tools and vehicles for discipleship and those who attended the January seminar focusing on transitioning to a discipling culture.
After lunch there will be an opportunity to hear individual stories before splitting into separate groups for question and answer sessions. The seminar will wind up with final thoughts and considerations for next steps finishing up at 4.00 pm.
