Christ Church Cathedral Choirs Perform at Barretstown Anniversary Ball
Both Christ Church Cathedral choirs are performing at the 20th Anniversary Barretstown Gala Ball at the Convention Centre Dublin this Saturday, September 27. The cathedral choir will perform at a red carpet reception as guests arrive at 7.30 pm. The cathedral girls’ choir will perform, with Joyce Murphy, during the gala ball dinner in front of over 1000 guests including local celebrities, pop and rock musicians, actors and politicians.
The partnership between Christ Church Cathedral’s Music Department and Barretstown Children’s Charity was announced in February 2014. The cathedral girls’ choir, founded in January 2013, visited Barretstown, a charity devoted to serving children suffering from serious illnesses including blood disorders and cancer.
The girls’ choir and Joyce Murphy recorded a song for Barretstown called “Dream Baby Dream” which was launched by the President of Ireland earlier this year. The song can be downloaded iTunes to help raise funds for Barretstown.
On May 2 the Girls’ Choir appeared in a high profile fundraising concert, at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre, which was broadcast on RTÉ1 television. During the summer, the cathedral choir raised €2154.86 by organising a sponsored walk in the Wicklow mountains.
