Council for Mission Considers Mission Sunday for Dioceses
The Dublin and Glendalough Council for Mission reviewed a busy year at Diocesan Synods this week. During the presentation, the new Diocesan Advent Appeal for Gaza was announced along with the development of a longer term link with the Dioceses of Jerusalem. (For more information click here.)
Speaking on the report, the Revd Ken Rue (Wicklow and Killiskey)(pictured) said the council was exploring the possibility of promoting a Mission Sunday in the United Dioceses. This Sunday would highlight mission at home and overseas and assist parishes to develop a Local Mission Strategy.
Mr Rue welcomed the development of a Mission Plan for the dioceses and said the Council for Mission would like to see it focus on concrete achievable action points with timelines and measurable outcomes.
During the past year, Mr Rue stated, the council had continued its ecumenical endeavours and was instrumental in arranging an Ecumenical Bible Week in June. The feedback was positive and the current intention is to have another such week between Pentecost and Trinity Sunday next year, from May 24 to 31, he said.
