Dublin and Glendalough Diocesan Synods Take Place This Evening
Synods men and women from all over Dublin and Glendalough will converge on Taney Parish Centre this afternoon (Tuesday October 21) for the annual Diocesan Synods.
This will be the first year for the new one–evening Synods and proceedings begin with a celebration of Holy Communion in Christ Church, Taney, at 4.00 pm during which Archbishop Michael Jackson will give his Presidential address.
The business of the Synod will begin at the end of the Service of Holy Communion in the adjoining Parish Centre.
Among the matters to be considered this year are the election of Honorary Secretaries of Synods and elections by the Joint Synods to various bodies. Reports will be heard from the Diocesan Councils, the Diocesan Board of Education, the Councils for Mission. Committee for Social Action and the Church’s Ministry of Healing. There will also be a presentation on Episcopal Ministry and Structures.
Synods conclude at 10.00 pm.
