Dublin–born Fr Sullivan (1861–1933) was elevated to a Venerable of the church (two steps below Sainthood) by Pope Francis earlier this year. The son of a Lord Chancellor of Ireland, Fr Sullivan’s father was a member of the Church of Ireland while his mother was a Roman Catholic. He was baptised in the Church of Ireland in St George’s Church in Dublin. He attended Portora Royal School and Clongowes Wood College and later became a Jesuit Priest.

The service has been organised by Archbishop Jackson, who will preach, and Dean Dermot Dunne with the assistance of Fr Conor Harper SJ. Archbishop Martin will speak at the end of the service. Members of staff and students from Portora Royal School and Clongowes College will attend and the readings will be by students of each school. Members of the Jesuit community will also be in attendance.
