Creative Saturday Workshops at Christ Church Cathedral
Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, is organising a series of fun Saturday workshops inspired by the cathedral’s collections, building and history. The workshops will take place on the second Saturday of every month in the South Transept from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm starting on Saturday January 9. Children and adults are welcome and the workshops are free (normal cathedral admission will apply). Booking is essential. To join in email ruth@christchurch.ie.
Saturday January 9 – Make Your Own Stained Glass Window with glass artist Gerlinde Kugler. Inspired by the wonderful stories told in the cathedral’s windows, participants will make their very own stained glass window using paper and coloured perspex. Max 16 people. For adults and children – 10 years of age and upwards.
Saturday February 13 – Make Your Own Flower Girl Headband/Wedding Bouquet with Ruth Kenny of Rosebud flowers. Celebrate the most romantic month of the year by learning how to make a beautiful headband or bouquet.Max 12 people. For adults and children – 10 years of age and upwards.
Saturday March 12 – Make Your Own Easter Candle with Tracy Johnston of Zoe Zoe candles. Come and make a personalised candle in its own container to light up your Easter. Max 10 people. For adults and children – 10 years of age and upwards.
Saturday April 9 – Make Your Own Tile with potter Emer O’Sullivan. Take inspiration from the incredible patterns and animals to be found on the cathedral’s medieval tiled floor and then get stuck into some clay to make your very own design. Max 12 people. For adults and children – 7 years of age and upwards.
Saturday May 14 – Make Your Own Paper with paper artist Tunde Toth. Enjoy the display of medieval manuscripts in the Crypt before having a go at making your own handmade textured paper, using pulp, seeds, herbs and thread.Max 12 people. For adults and children – 6 years of age and upwards.
Saturday June 11 – Make a Drip–Drawing with artist Fergal Brennan. Come and participate in an exciting (and messy!) collaborative drawing workshop, using ink and huge sheets of paper to create works of art inspired by the cathedral’s fascinating funeral monuments. Max 10 –15 people. For adults and children – 8 years of age and upwards.
