Retirement of the Very Revd Victor Stacey as Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin

The Very Revd Victor Stacey, Dean of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, has announced that he will retire on 31 March 2016. Dean Stacey (pictured) was elected as Dean of St Patrick’s – the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland – in February 2012, having previously been Rector of Dun Laoghaire (Dublin). During his time at St Patrick’s Cathedral he has overseen the restoration of the Lady Chapel and the transfer of the St Patrick’s Cathedral Grammar school to the Free School Scheme, among other significant events.

The Archbishop of Armagh, The Most Revd Dr Richard Clarke, and the Archbishop of Dublin, The Most Revd Dr Michael Jackson, said, ‘Dean Stacey has been consistent in his stewardship of St Patrick’s Cathedral during his tenure. Many will have enjoyed his gentle characteristics of personality and all will wish him well in retirement.’
