The Very Revd William Morton to be Installed as Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral on Saturday September 24

The Very Revd William Morton will be installed as Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, at a service of Evensong on 24th September 2016 at 3.00pm. The service will be attended by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, members of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann, civic, diplomatic and religious representatives, members of the Chapter and those who worship at St Patrick’s Cathedral.  The preacher at the service will be the former Archdeacon of Raphoe, the Venerable Scott Harte.

The Very Revd William Morton (pictured) was elected Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral on 9th May this year by the members of the Cathedral Chapter. Dean Morton comes to St Patrick’s from Londonderry where he has been Dean of St Columb’s Cathedral in the Diocese of Derry since 1997. He was ordained deacon in 1988 and priested in 1989. He was appointed to the Chapter of St Patrick’s Cathedral as Prebendary of Howth in 2013.

The Cathedral will close to visitors from 2.00pm on the 24th.
