Church Music Dublin’s Living Worship Sessions Begin on Saturday
Church Music Dublin’s popular short course in music, liturgy and worship gets underway this Saturday, January 14. The opening Living Worship workshop will be facilitated by the Revd Richard Clutterbuck, Principal of Edgehill Theological College, Belfast, in the Mageough Hall, Cowper Road, Rathmines, at 10.00 am on Saturday. The workshop will centre around the question ‘Why Liturgy?’.
Living Worship aims to help church musicians see their role in a wider context than just playing an instrument or directing a choir. The course has something for everyone – musicians, worship leaders, clergy and others with pastoral responsibility – all who have an interest in the music of worship. Practical music skills are not required to take part.
There will be two further Living Worship sessions – one in February and one in March.
On Saturday February 4at the Mageough Hall, the Very Revd Tom Gordon, Dean of Leighlin Cathedral, will discuss why Christians worship and will offer guidance about the use of music at the Eucharist.
On Saturday March 11 at 10.00 am at Monkstown Parish Church (note change of venue)Dr John Rowntree, Choir Director and Organist at Douai Abbey and Director of Music at St Mary’s Parish Church, Douai Abbey, in Berkshire, will discuss Singing in Community – and how.
The fee is €10 per session which includes refreshments. More details are available from the Church Music Dublin website: http://www.churchmusicdublin.org/living-worship/
