Diocesan Holy Land Pilgrimage – Jordan, Israel and Palestine
3rd November to 14th November 2017 – Led by Revd Dr William Olhausen and Revd Ken Rue
This pilgrimage forms part of the partnership link between the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough and the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem but is open to all who have an interest in seeing the sights of the Holy Land and of learning more of life there. It has been organised by the Dublin & Glendalough Diocesan Council for Mission.

*Being educated about the contemporary situation through hearing various outlooks, from those supporting Palestinian human rights to reconciliation ministries to Israeli settlers.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Dublin to Amman
Depart Dublin 11.15am via Istanbul to Amman, arriving at 11.55pm. On arrival meet and greet at the airport and transfer for check in at hotel.
Day 2 – River Jordan and Dead Sea
Travel to Jesus’ baptismal site (Bethany beyond the Jordan) and the Dead Sea. Visit Mount Nebo, from where Moses viewed the Promised Land and where it is believed he was buried. Dinner and overnight in Amman.
Day 3 – Amman and Jerash
In the morning worship at Church of the Redeemer, Amman. City tour of Amman and visit Jerash where there are extensive Roman ruins. Dinner & overnight in Amman.
Day 4 – Cana and Nazareth
Travel from Jordan into Israel. View Cana, sight of our Lord’s first miracle and his hometown of Nazareth. Dinner & overnight in Nazareth.
Day 5 – Mount Carmel, Haifa and Akko
Visit Mount Carmel where Elijah challenged Israel to worship the true God. View Haifa, Israel’s third largest city and the coastal city of Akko. Dinner & overnight in Nazareth.
Day 6 – Mount of Beatitudes and Sea of Galilee
Visit Capernaum. Drive to the Mount of Beatitudes – site of the Sermon of the Mount. Enjoy a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee. Dinner & overnight in Nazareth.
Day 7 – Nablus and Ramallah
Visit Nablus, where the tribes of Israel renewed their covenant with God, and Ramallah, near the site of Jacob’s well. Dinner & overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 8 – Bethlehem
Visit Aida Refugee Camp. View the site of the Nativity and Manger Square. Proceed to the Shepherds’ Fields. Dinner & overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 9 – Gethsemane and the Greater Jerusalem area
Visit the Mount of Olives and Gethsemane. Go to Yad Vashem, the holocaust memorial. Dinner & overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 10 – The Old City Muslim and Christian Quarters
Worship at St George’s Cathedral. View the Al–Aqsa Mosque, walk the Via Dolorosa and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Dinner & overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 11 – The Old City Armenian and Jewish Quarters
Visit St James Armenian Cathedral and other churches. View the Western Wall. Travel to the seaside resort of Jaffa. Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport.
Day 12 – Tel Aviv to Dublin
Depart Tel Aviv 1.00am via Istanbul to Dublin, arriving at 10.20am.

Completed booking forms should be sent with a deposit of €250 per person by cheque, debit or credit card and should be paid to MAP Travel, 36 Upper O’Connell Street, Dublin 1 (Tel: 01–8783111) by 31 March 2017. The balance of payment is due 10 weeks prior to departure, i.e., 25 August 2017. Notes: 1. a 2% surcharge applies only to balances paid by credit card; 2. your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
