Heritage Week 2018 at St Patrick’s Cathedral
A very busy programme has been unveiled for Heritage Week 2018 in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. There will be a variety of activities for all ages in the stunning and ancient cathedral and a week full of music and worship.
Jazz Eucharist & Blues Evensong
This Heritage week cathedral personnel are exploring the many forms of worship that have been offered in the cathedral over the last 800 years and the music that has adorned these services. The cathedral’s liturgical offering begins not where you might expect, but with a Jazz Eucharist & a Blue Evensong both sung by The Close Chorale with music by Bob Chilcott (A Little Jazz Mass) and Ian Farrington (The “Blues” Service).

Worship Through the Ages
There will be five special choral services charting the Liturgical Heritage of this Ancient House of Prayer right from its foundation in 1191 right up until present day. Full details of music available here. All are welcome.

The Wondrous Machine: Sounds Symphonic
The six organ symphonies of Louis Vierne were written to showcase the new exciting organs of visionary organ builder Aristide Cavaillé–Coll in 19th century Paris. Acknowledged as one of the crowning glories of the repertoire, this Heritage Week you can experience all six of these great works performed across four concerts by Cathedral Organist, David Leigh. Sit back and listen as the 4,000 pipes of the magnificent Willis organ fills the Cathedral. All the action from the organ loft is then relayed via a giant screen in the Nave.

Music for Lunch
The popular Music for Lunch recital series takes place in the wonderful surroundings of the Lady Chapel. As always, there is a fabulous line up of musicians and music to see you right through lunch, sadly food not included!
