‘The Last Lap’ – A Series of Reflections for Holy Week by the Archbishop
Archbishop Michael Jackson has recorded a series of reflections for Holy Week in Holy Trinity Rathmines. Entitled ‘The Last Lap’, the series is centred around the final words his friend, Dr David Tuohy SJ, spoke to him. The Archbishop explains that the phrase ‘the last lap’ does not point to defeat but rather to a new, if frightening, adventure.
Throughout Holy Week 2020, Archbishop Jackson will reflect on the last lap of Jesus. He invites you to join this journey. Reflections will be posted daily on the Dublin & Glendalough YouTube channel or you can come back to the website where they will also be shared.
The journey begins today, on Palm Sunday, with two videos. The first is an introduction which provides the context for ‘The Last Lap’. The second is a reflection with readings, prayers and music for Palm Sunday.

In unprecedented times when travel and movement are restricted we are most grateful to Holy Trinity, Rathmines, for enabling the recording of this series to take place – to the Rector, the Revd Rob Jones, for facilitating and introducing the reflections, to Scott Evans and Andy Waller for film and sound, to Christina Evans for some of the readings and Sherry Hazlett–Gallen for the music.
