The Last Lap – A Reflection for Monday of Holy Week 2020 by Archbishop Michael Jackson
Today, Monday in Holy Week 2020, Archbishop Michael Jackson continues his series of reflections entitled ‘The Last Lap’.
Today he looks at isolation – the isolation we are all in currently in a bid to ‘flatten the curve’ of Covid–19 and the isolation of people with disabilities who, largely in times past went unseen and remained in isolation.
Referring to the Suffering Servant in today’s reading [Isaiah 42: 1–9], he suggests that the language used can refocus our thoughts on the role of leadership that a person with disfigurement and disability can and does give.
The Archbishop’s reflection in the video below is accompanied by a reading and prayers let by the Revd Rob Jones and his team from Holy Trinity, Rathmines.
This is the second in the series of Holy Week Reflections. You can watch the first reflection and the introduction on the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel.
You can read the text of Archbishop Jackson’s reflection here.
We are most grateful to Holy Trinity, Rathmines, for enabling the recording of this series to take place – to the Rector, the Revd Rob Jones, for facilitating and introducing the reflections, to Scott Evans and Andy Waller for film and sound, to Christina Evans for some of the readings and Sherry Hazlett–Gallen for the music.
