Journey Continues on ‘The Last Lap’ – Archbishop Reflects on Tuesday of Holy Week
Today Archbishop Michael Jackson continues his reflections for Holy Week 2020, entitled ‘The Last Lap’. On the Tuesday of Holy Week he looks at the writing of St Paul in 1 Corinthians 1: 18–31 where we are introduced to the scandal or stumbling block of the Cross.
St Paul presents the Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace – all given a human face through the person of Jesus Christ. “This is exactly where St Paul wants us to be; he wants us to centre ourselves on the seemingly impossible, on the cross as the place of hope, on Calvary as the place of love, on the two or three who gather together there as the community of faith, a faith in the future at the heart of devastation,” the Archbishop says in his video.
The Archbishop’s reflection in the video below is accompanied by a reading and prayers let by the Revd Rob Jones and his team from Holy Trinity, Rathmines. A new video will be posted each day, concluding on Easter Day so subscribe to the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel to follow the series.
This is the third in the series of Holy Week Reflections. You can watch the reflections for Palm Sunday, the Monday of Holy Week and the introduction to the series on the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel.
