‘The Last Lap’ Series Continues – Archbishop Jackson Reflects on Spy Wednesday
Today Archbishop Jackson continues our virtual journey through Holy Week 2020, ‘The Last Lap’, by looking at Spy Wednesday. The name for the Wednesday in Holy Week comes from the departure of Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus and the Archbishop suggests that Judas is a Christian prototype of the ‘Alienated Follower’.
In his video reflection for today he says Alienated Followers exist across and within the church and examines their characteristics. He looks at how St John and Jesus handle the situation [St John 13: 21–32].
Our journey on ‘The Last Lap’ continues tomorrow.
The Archbishop’s reflection in the video below is accompanied by a reading and prayers let by the Revd Rob Jones and his team from Holy Trinity, Rathmines. A new video will be posted each day, concluding on Easter Day so subscribe to the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel to follow the series.
This is the fourth in the series of Holy Week Reflections. You can watch the reflections for Palm Sunday, the Monday of Holy Week and the introduction to the series on the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel.
You can read the full text of Archbishop Jackson’s reflection for Wednesday here.
We are most grateful to Holy Trinity, Rathmines, for enabling the recording of this series to take place – to the Rector, the Revd Rob Jones, for facilitating and introducing the reflections, to Scott Evans and Andy Waller for film and sound, to Christina Evans for some of the readings and Sherry Hazlett–Gallen for the music.
