The Message of Good Friday in the Time of Covid–19 – Archbishop Jackson’s Holy Week Reflections

Good Friday is the last lap – and today Archbishop Michael Jackson looks at how God calls us to be Good Friday People in the time of Covid–19 when we make a communal effort to flatten the curve in the hope of longer term survival as individuals and as a society.

The Archbishop says that the writer to the Hebrews [4:14–16 and 5: 7–9] draws to the fore qualities which are for our time.

The Archbishop’s reflection in the video below is accompanied by a reading and prayers let by the Revd Rob Jones and his team from Holy Trinity, Rathmines. The concluding video will be posted on Easter Day so subscribe to the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel to follow the series.

This is the sixth in the series of Holy Week Reflections. You can watch the other videos in the series on the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel.

You can read the text of the Archbishop’s reflection for Good Friday here.

We are most grateful to Holy Trinity, Rathmines, for enabling the recording of this series to take place – to the Rector, the Revd Rob Jones, for facilitating and introducing the reflections, to Scott Evans and Andy Waller for film and sound, to Christina Evans for some of the readings and Sherry Hazlett–Gallen for the music.
