The Start of a New Lap – Archbishop Jackson’s Reflections for Holy Week and Easter Conclude

Today, Easter Day 2020, sees the final instalment of ‘The Last Lap’ series of reflections for Holy Week and Easter by Archbishop Michael Jackson. On Easter Day the Gospel from St John, features people who love and are committed to Jesus running to and from the tomb. The Archbishop notes that this is in keeping with the overall theme – ‘The Last Lap’ – except today, he says, a new lap is unfolding. “Today is the race of something different, what I would call the race of proclamation leading to the race of mission. Christian people tell and then they go!” he says.

All the reflections in this series were filmed in Holy Trinity, Rathmines. Today’s reflection is brought to you in the context of their Easter Day Service, celebrated by the Rector, the Revd Rob Jones.

You can watch the full series on the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel.

You can read the text of Archbishop Jackson’s Easter Day reflection here.

We are most grateful to Holy Trinity, Rathmines, for enabling the recording of this series to take place – to the Rector, the Revd Rob Jones, for facilitating and introducing the reflections, to Scott Evans and Andy Waller for film and sound, to Christina Evans for some of the readings and Sherry Hazlett–Gallen for the music.
