“Signs of Goodness and Gladness” – Archbishop of Dublin Preaches in Taney
Archbishop Michael Jackson was invited to preside and preach at Christ Church Taney this morning (April 19, the Second Sunday of Easter). As churches remain closed to congregations, the service was recorded with the Rector, Canon Robert Warren and Curate, the Revd Nigel Pierpoint, and broadcast on the parish Facebook page this morning.
In his sermon the Archbishop spoke of the Covid–19 Generation on the Sunday after Easter.
“We would be wise not to look for too many signs to feed our own satisfaction, like Thomas the Twin. There is a national effort in an international pandemic to which we are called, as our vocation as citizens and our vocation as Christians combines. There are signs of goodness and of gladness. These we must savour and share. We are bound to the neighbour whom we dare not touch physically by the peace of Christ and by the grit of The Spirit. We are to use our common sense and our common generosity to hold together our life of humanity and our life of faith for the common good. There is no alternative. This is the way of Christ in the present hour,” he said.
