Back to Youth with Dublin & Glendalough Youth Council
This November and December Dublin & Glendalough Youth Council is inviting all parishes in the dioceses to take part in its BACK TO YOUTH initiative.
Navigating youth work during a pandemic has not been easy and our young people have missed out on so much. However, restrictions are easing and DGYC wants to take the opportunity to help parishes connect with and support their young people.
DGYC will do this in two ways: Advice is available from DGYC’s Youth Ministry Development Officer Emma Fawcett and applications are open for funding for in–person youth activities.
Emma is available for zoom sessions with clergy and those involved in youth ministry. These sessions will last no longer than 45 minutes and they are a great way to get some ideas, resources and support. Email dgyc.office@gmail.com to book a session.
Parishes can apply for funding here. The maximum amount is €200 per parish. This funding could support anything which you would find helpful including games equipment, resources or to put towards a youth trip out. The final date for applications is November 31 2021. If the money is not used for intended purposes it may be asked to be returned.
“Our young people value connection and relationship, therefore we invite each Parish to prioritise this in the coming weeks. There is no set expectation of what this will look like or how this will happen. Whether this is two young people or a group, whether it is for a planned outdoor activity, a youth group ice–skating trip, Bible study or an informal chat – whatever you do will be significant,” Emma comments.
She adds: “Whether you have engaged with young people before or during the pandemic, this moment presents a new opportunity, a fresh start and we believe that our young people will value this invitation”.
