Independence Day the Focus of Third Day of Visit to Diocese of Chota Nagpur
Archbishop Michael Jackson is currently visiting the Diocese of Chota Nagpur in India with Canon Dr Maurice Elliott, Director of the Church of Ireland Theological Institute, the Revd Steve Brunn, Dean of Residence and Church of Ireland Chaplain at Trinity College, Dublin and Dr Kerry Houston. The visit is organised under the auspices of the Dublin University Mission to Chota Nagpur (DUMCN). Here the Archbishop reports on their third day of the visit.
August 15th is Independence Day in India and this year the nation marks the seventy–seventh year of independence.
In the Diocese of Chota Nagpur the theme chosen for 2023 is: Nation First, Always Nation. This was celebrated by seventeen schools in the diocese under the auspices of the Diocesan Council for Education.
It was held in the hall at the diocesan centre in Ranchi. A range of cultural presentations was made by the pupils with breathtaking éclat.
The visitors from Dublin University Mission to Chota Nagpur, Archbishop Michael Jackson, Canon Dr Maurice Elliott, the Revd Steve Brunn and Dr Kerry Houston, were invited to present prizes.
