Prayer for Peace in the Holy Land: by the Archbishop of Jerusalem
Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, has written a prayer for peace in the Holy Land. He has shared it with bishops across the Anglican Communion. Archbishop Michael Jackson is encouraging all the people of the United Dioceses to use the prayer personally and has asked clergy to use it in church services from Palm Sunday through to Easter Day. He says: “Palm Sunday marks the transition on the part of Jesus Christ from the desert to the city of Jerusalem. We travel with him on this journey of faith, in humility and suffering”.
Prayer for Peace in the Holy Land
O God of all justice and peace, we cry out to you in the midst of the pain and trauma of violence and fear which prevails in the Holy Land.
Be with those who need you in these days of suffering we pray for people of all faiths – Jews, Muslims and Christians and for all people of the land.
While we pray to you, O Lord, for an end of violence and the establishment of peace, we also call to you to bring justice and equality to the peoples.
Guide us into your kingdom where all people are treated with dignity and honour as your children – for to all of us you are our Heavenly Father.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Archbishop Hosam
