Learn and Sing Plainsong Workshop
Church Music Dublin invites you to join them for a Learn and Sing Plainsong Workshop on Saturday November 9 2024 from 1.45 to 4.30pm at St Pappan’s Church, Santry, D09 W597 Bus Routes: 16, 41, 41C.
This workshop will be led by Dr David O’Shea, Director of Music, Sandford and St Philip’s parishes.
Plainsong (also called plainchant or Gregorian chant) is the most ancient form of Christian music. It is simple, easy to sing and devotional in character. While open to all who are interested, this event is primarily for organists and singers from Church of Ireland parishes and will introduce participants to a variety of accessible music that can be used in a parish setting with small groups of singers. A booklet containing music used will be available for each participant.
The workshop will take place in the beautiful surroundings of St Pappan’s Church, Church Lane, Santry, Dublin, D09 W597 (off the Swords Road, near to Santry Demesne).
Following the workshop, at 3.30pm, the participants will sing as a choir for a celebration of the Eucharist, led by the Rev’d Canon David Oxley, Rector of Santry group of parishes.
