Creating Community for the Work of God – Confirmation in Christ Church Cathedral

Congratulations to the 36 people from five Dublin parishes who were confirmed by Archbishop Michael Jackson in Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday afternoon (September 28).
The candidates came from St Patrick’s Church in Dalkey, Stillorgan and Blackrock, Rathmichael, St Paul’s in Glenageary and Holy Trinity Killiney.
The Archbishop told the candidates and their families and friends who filled the cathedral that discipleship was at the heart of the service of confirmation. “We are followers together of Jesus Christ. The fullness of discipleship is the equipping of those on earth to fulfil their faith,” he stated.
He noted that persecution of people for expressing their faith is increasing and said that statistics suggested that one in nine Christians across the globe is persecuted for their faith. “We here in Ireland are free to practice our faith. How does confirmation equip us to do that? It does so by creating a community for the work of God… We witness through the totality of the Creation of which we are part,” he added.
