New Rural Dean of Fingal Appointed

New Rural Dean of Fingal Appointed

The Revd Philip Heak has been appointed Rural Dean for Fingal in the Diocese of Dublin by Archbishop Michael Jackson.

Philip has been Rector of Howth since 2022. Alongside his regular parish ministry, he has been closely involved in developing a vibrant outreach to the local Ukrainian community and has been acting as Priest–in–Charge of Clontarf since June 2025. He is a representative on the Dublin Council of Churches, a member of the Dublin and Glendalough Pioneer Ministry Hub, and serves on the Dublin and Glendalough Youth Council. His interests include music, cooking, woodworking, and photography.

Announcing the appointment, Archbishop Jackson said: “The Reverend Philip Heak has developed a broad ranging ministry in Howth. This has involved the parish and the community together with the National School. He has also offered full inclusion of members of the Ukrainian community living in the nearby Deer Park. For the last six months Philip has been acting Rural Dean. I wish him well and am delighted to make this appointment as Rural Dean”.

Speaking about his appointment Philip said: “It is a privilege to be asked to take on the role of Rural Dean and I look forward to working with the parishes of Fingal as we seek to honour God and serve our communities together.”
