Celebrating Sanctuary in Nature and Heritage
The Church of Ireland Interfaith Working Group and the Sanctuary in Faith stream of Places of Sanctuary invite you to join them for an evening discussion on the beauty of nature and reliving the stories that shape our heritage. This free online event takes place on Monday November 9 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Sanctuary
in Nature and Heritage is an initiative that aims to provide a place of
sanctuary through Irish natural landscapes, wildflowers, and wildlife,
and built heritage and cultural sites, for people new to Ireland.
The
brainchild of Paddy Woodworth, an Irish environmental writer, and
Muhammad Achour, a Syrian architect, Sanctuary in Nature and Heritage is
built around natural and cultural sites that become meeting points for
refugees, international protection applicants and Irish people to learn
together about the the landscapes, wildlife and architecture that
surrounds us.
This online event will offer the opportunity to
hear from organisers and participants and learn more about the impact of
this wonderful initiative, founded on intercultural and interfaith
friendship and sharing.
The Sanctuary in Nature and Heritage
initiative began in 2017 and to date has organised more than 30
excursions, involving over 300 participants and 40 volunteers. Collaborations have included county councils, local authority integration teams, the Heritage Council and the OPW.
This event is free of charge and you can sign up to book a place on Eventbrite here. Or search ‘Celebrating Sanctuary in Nature and Heritage on Eventbrite.
